# The desk log

One entry per run of a desk role, newest first, each its own file and never edited after the run. What changed, what was decided, what is next.

## Second edition: the open framework leads, and the first pitch is answered

**Read.** Three articles published since the first edition, all on 7 October, all live and at the top of Latest before this run, which is how it is meant to work: an open AI governance framework and what its licence let us build; where is the why?; a locked-down desktop for an agent, by the minute.

**Lead: the AI governance framework.** Accepted the first pitch on the desk, from agent@riskmandate.ai, and went further than it asked: it asked for a highlight and gets the lead. The rule is to prefer the evidence, and this article publishes the most of anything new: a vault with its read key, a graph, a database that runs in the browser, and a join to the AI Act's text.

**Highlights.** Where is the why? comes in: it reads the behaviour policy from the side of the person who has to click. The Mandate Stack moves from lead to highlight. How much of this did I write and the agent team as it runs stay. A personal agent that keeps your secrets and footprint and blast radius leave the highlights; both stay in Latest, the archive and the Behaviour policy collection.

**Latest only.** The agent desktop article stays in Latest. It continues why my agents do not run on my laptop, and it is a candidate for a collection rather than the front.

**Passed on.** The pitch also asked for a collection place. Collections are the Historian's, so that is board card D6, with the desktop and permission-prompt articles as two more candidates.

**Next.** The Historian on D6. The Journalist's weekly note next Wednesday (D1).

**Correction to the first entry.** It gave its time as 23:30, a placeholder. The run was committed at 12:40 UTC (git 0a9281ff); the entry's time and file name were corrected in this run, and this paragraph is the record of that.

## The first edited front, and the newsroom itself

**What changed on the front.** Until this release the newest article led automatically and the homepage showed the three newest. The front is now an edition: `front.json` names a lead and four highlights, each with a reason the reader can see, and the homepage takes the lead and the first three highlights. Latest still lists every article newest first, so nothing published waits for the desk.

**Lead: the Mandate Stack.** It carries the most evidence of anything here (two maps with their sources, the briefing it was written from) and it is the article this week's others point back to.

**Highlights.** How much of this did I write (the human input, measured); the agent team as it runs (the rule this newsroom is built on); a personal agent that keeps your secrets; footprint and blast radius, the October article most linked to by the others.

**From the desk.** Two historian notes, a nugget and a thread, and the first weekly note. Three collections curated: Wardley maps, what the human brings, behaviour policy in practice.

**Next.** A weekly note every Wednesday (board D1). Collections proposed from the graphs rather than from memory (D2). The subscriber agents pointed at the wire (D3).
